CWIN, a pioneer in child rights organization in Nepal, will complete it's 25th year in November 2012. Our primary activities include child
protection-- wherein rescue, emergency shelter, counseling, reintegration and legal services are provided. CWIN also operates five Child Helplines, a hot line for children at risk and runs the Peace Home, a long-term transit center for children without alternatives of reintegration. At present, CWIN also works with children affected by the ten-year civil war, former child soldiers and runs
programs with youths on conflict transformation.
CWIN's major achievement in the last 25 years is that it has converted non issues pertaining to child rights into a national agenda. We have
pioneered researches on children’s issues and brought about public knowledge and generated national interest. This public awareness contributed in safeguarding rights of the children. Another one of our major achievements include "Action through Advocacy": a positive changes in policies and practice. CWIN also established the first national child protection system: the Child Helpline 1098, reaching out directly to children in crisis. Apart from that, CWIN has led innovative interventions which, in turn, have led to promotion and protection of children’s rights from which numerous of children have benefited directly.
